Here's a contribution one very thorough and responsible volunteer can make to the parade:
The Veggie Pride Parade will culminate in Washington Sq. Park (eastern end) at around 1:15 p.m., May 18, 2008. There, parade marchers will be treated to music, speakers, and exhibitors.
The exhibitors will need tables, and we at the Veggie Pride committee thought it best to just rent them from New York University.
We need 10 - 8-foot long sturdy utility tables.
Example:

Outside of paying the rental cost, the volunteer would be responsible for arranging everything:
- Getting the estimate
- Getting contract to be signed
- Assuring that payment was cleared in time
- Arranging for the tables to be delivered and set up at the rally site
- Arranging for the tables to be picked up and returned to NYU

Well this weekend I thought i'd see about distributing flyers to 20 veg*n restaurants around the East Village, and then handing out some more when I go to Foodswings' 4th anniversary celebration on Sunday. I'm covering Greenwich Village the Saturday after that.

I hear that this coming Sunday will be an Earth Day celebration in the park--could we solicit volunteers there? It seems the crowd would be like-minded.

I'm hoping to have a Veggie Pride Parade banner by then to do some outreach in Union Sq. Park.
